Most people wouldn’t see it as lucky to wake up in a hospital bed with all four limbs broken.
But Tauranga businesswoman and mother-of-four Tina Jennen counts herself very lucky – lucky to be alive and lucky that she didn’t have any head or internal injuries.
It is this positive mindset that saw her take control of her recovery after she was involved in a head-on collision near Katikati in January, in which she broke both arms and legs.
Tina, who runs Eurofins Scientific Bay of Plenty and was formerly CEO of the Plus Group of agri-tech companies, says the crash has forced her to practice what she preaches.
“I’ve been advising entrepreneurs for years about how to overcome obstacles and manage change. Now I’m having to take my own advice,” she says.
Staying curious is the key to staying on track, she adds. “When you’re curious, you stay in the present.”
Tina will be talking about how her life has changed since the crash and sharing further insights into the motivation behind her recovery at our next Wonder Women event, on May 23.
“We are really looking forward to hearing Tina speak - I am sure we can all learn from Tina’s strength, determination and positive attitude,” says Lyon O’Neale Arnold co-director Denise Arnold.
Also speaking at Wonder Women is Emily Arnold, who will talk about her new business Good Together, which creates visual and written content for websites, blogs, social media and print.
Emily will then be joined by Millie Newitt as they share their experiences in Cambodia with the Cambodia Charitable Trust, including a sneak peek of a documentary they are making about the country and its people.
Wonder Women is a free quarterly speaker series that brings women together to be inspired, form friendships and share ideas.
